You go to an electronics store, such as Radio Shack, or Fry’s or any major electronics store, and purchase an OUTDOOR DIGITAL OFF AIR ANTENNA. It has to be DIGITAL and it has to be OUTDOORS. But you also have to be sure you have an Off-Air input jack on the backside of your receiver box. Some receivers don’t have the jack. The antenna connects to your receiver, and runs through your wall to the outside of your house. It should be mounted somewhere with clear reception. Probably the same side of your house that the Dish faces. You then have to redo your Dish’s System Setup. That’s the toughest part. Once you’ve run the new system setup to receiver off-air local channels, the channels should work with your Dish Service as if they came together. They even come in HD. I suggest having a service tech do it for you, cuz the System Setup can be confusing. If you look on Craigslist, you can probably find a private satellite installer who’ll only charge you half of what Dish Network or DirectTv will charge. If you don’t have the input jack in the back of your receiver, I suggest getting a new receiver with an input jack. It’ll only cost you a hundred dollars or so on ebay. I think that’s worth getting your local channels.
